Hello, I'm Allison of Massage Matters, welcome to my website. I work from a dedicated massage therapy space in Larbert, Central Scotland.
I am fully aware of how the pressures of daily life can affect a person’s physical and mental well-being – whether that’s in a sporting or competitive environment or just as a result of the stresses and strains of day-to-day living.
During an initial consultation, we will discuss what you would like to get out of the treatment, whether that be purely a relaxing massage or working on an issue that you may have.
I aim to provide a professional, effective and client-centred service with treatments that are tailored, specifically, to their individual needs – after all – no two clients are the same – so why would their treatments be? So whether you are looking for a relaxing massage or you have a specific issue which is causing you pain and discomfort, get in touch. You can book appointments by using the online booking system or by messaging me for a chat using one of the contact methods below.
I'm a graduate of the Western School of Massage in Glasgow, the only massage school in the UK that has a university accredited qualification. As a fully qualified massage therapist I can offer Massage, Hot Stones Massage and On Site Seated Acupressure massage. I am also a member of the Scottish Manual Therapist Organisation (SMTO).
I have been involved in sports and mainly athletics for over 40 years initially as an athlete and then moving onto becoming a level 2 British Athletics Coach.
I am passionate about health and fitness and trained as a massage therapist after realising the benefits of massage and how I could help and support others in their own health and fitness journey. I am committed to continuous development always looking to develop new skills and techniques.

Using Swedish massage techniques massage can help your overall health and well being:
It’s generally considered a lighter, more soothing massage compared to others like deep tissue or sports massage, making it a great option for those looking to relax and unwind.
A remedial massage is a type of therapeutic massage that focuses on treating specific musculoskeletal issues, injuries, or chronic pain. The goal of remedial massage is to relieve pain, improve range of movement, and promote recovery by addressing the root causes of discomfort. Before the treatment I will conduct a series of safety tests, a general examination and then test Range of Movement. The results of this will then be used to determine your treatment.
This form of massage often involves deeper pressure and techniques such as targeted swedish massage, myofascial stripping and pnf stretching. It’s generally considered a lighter, more soothing massage compared to others like deep tissue or sports massage, making it a great option for those looking to relax and unwind. massage is commonly used to treat conditions like muscle tension, joint pain, soft tissue injuries, and conditions caused by poor posture or repetitive strain. It's tailored to the individual's needs, and I will work to identify and treat areas of tension or injury.
It’s also different from relaxation massage, as it’s more focused on rehabilitation and healing, rather than just relaxation or stress relief.
A sports massage is a type of massage specifically designed for athletes or individuals involved in regular physical activity. It focuses on preventing and treating injuries, improving performance, and enhancing recovery. While it shares some similarities with other types of massage, such as remedial massage, sports massage is more targeted and customised to the athlete's needs, addressing the specific muscle groups that are under stress due to sports activities.
Key benefits of sports massage include:
Sports massage techniques might include targeted swedish, myofascial stripping, friction and pnf stretching, depending on the needs of the individual. It's beneficial for athletes of all levels, from professional to recreational.
A hot stones massage is a type of therapeutic massage that uses smooth, heated stones, typically made of basalt (a type of volcanic rock), to help relax muscles and improve circulation. The stones are heated in water to a specific temperature and then placed on key points of the body, such as the back, hands, or feet, to enhance the massage experience.
During the massage, I will use the stones in combination with traditional massage techniques, like kneading and long strokes. The heat from the stones helps relax muscles more deeply, making it easier to release tension and stress.
