Mental Health Support

East Lothian Pandas Support Group

The PANDAS Foundation is here to help support and advise any parent who is experiencing a perinatal mental illness. We are also here to inform and guide family members, carers, friends and employers as to how they can support someone who is suffering.

Juno’s main aim is to help mums with perinatal mental health difficulties realise that they are not alone in how they feel and what they feel is indeed a very real illness. It is very common to think ‘why me?’ ‘why can everyone else cope?’ ‘will I ever feel normal again?’ ‘it’s not supposed to feel like this…is it?’. They run weekly peer support groups throughout Edinburgh where they offer advice and information as well as one-to-one befriending through their outreach program.

Lothian Childcare Solutions

Lothian Childcare Solutions can provide a Mother’s Helper, who provides support to parents in their own home while the parent is present. They can be hired to work on a temporary or permanent basis for a short, medium or longer period. They can work with a family full-time for an agreed period, for example to help out when a new baby arrives or after an operation. Or they can work with families indefinitely on set days and times each week to make things easier for parents. Mother/Parent helpers provide a much-needed extra pair of hands at busy or stressful times.

Dads Rock

Dads Rock aim is to support and inspire Dads, children and families throughout Edinburgh, to ensure they have the strongest relationships they can. Their hope is through achieving this, there will be a larger shift in society toward accepting the vital role Dads play.
